Mentors interested in working with a SDICCCA fellow for the upcoming academic year should contact the SDICCCA Fellows Project Coordinator at San Diego State University:

Mentorship is a dynamic and collaborative relationship where both the mentor and the mentee (or fellow) engage in learning and professional development. It’s an opportunity for mentors to share their wealth of knowledge, experience, and insights, while providing guidance and support to emerging educators. This relationship is mutually beneficial: the fellow gains valuable experience and skills, while mentors often find renewed enthusiasm and fresh perspectives through the interaction.
What is Required?
Time Commitment for Mentors
The fellowship program spans two semesters, during which fellows are required to complete 60 hours of field practicum per semester. These hours do not need to be completed exclusively with the mentor, fellows can fulfill their requirement through a combination of mentorship meetings, campus events, committee meetings, and other relevant activities.
Mentors and fellows should collaborate to establish a schedule that works for both parties. The time commitment will vary depending on the needs of the fellow and the mentor’s availability, but regular check-ins—whether in person, virtual, or via email—are encouraged to ensure meaningful engagement. Mentors play a crucial role in guiding and supporting fellows, but the structure and frequency of interactions should be flexible and mutually agreed upon.
