• During these unprecedented and uncertain times that we are currently facing, we have been trying to reflect on the positive in our lives and put into perspective all that we have. Our community is strong and we’re confident that in times of crisis we could simply ask for help and it would arrive. We are asking you today, our community supporters and partners, to come together during this difficult time to support our students.

You may have heard that in response to the COVID-19 crisis Grossmont and Cuyamaca Colleges have quickly transitioned all of our instruction online and are providing remote student services. Our faculty and staff have made heroic efforts to help our students to meet their educational goals.

Many of our students already face financial challenges, like food insecurity and homelessness, as around 60% of our students are economically disadvantaged. Changes in the economy and the transition to online instruction put a heavy burden on our students as they face unexpected expenses that could potentially be the reason they drop out of school.

We all know that it’s best to keep our students and community safe, but with the campuses, schools, restaurants, libraries, and many other outside facilities and businesses closed, they now face greater challenges like:

        • Lack of computers/inadequate technology
        • No access to internet
        • Loss of wages
        • Increasing food and housing insecurity

To help our students to finish the semester, earn their degrees and certificates, transfer to a university and transition to careers–we are offering immediate emergency assistance to students impacted by this crisis. We need your help today to ensure the greatest number of students possible can stay in college.

As a long-term supporter of Grossmont and Cuyamaca College students, we invite you to provide a lifeline to the single mom who lost her job waiting tables or the student who faithfully used a computer lab to complete his assignments and now is trying to study on his phone.

Every dollar counts. Our students need our help now more than ever.
